A Scientist in Colombia, Carlos Torres has designed an arm replacement (artificial arm) prototype system labelled IKO Creative Prosthetic System.

His aim is to enable people, especially children, combat the social isolation they often suffer because of their physical injuries.
The IKO Creative Prosthetic System has 3 main sections

1.  A base that fits around an arm stump and senses for its movements.
2.  A muscle that translates those signals into motorized movements.
3.  Attachments, which can either be a conventional hand or many of the toy systems the Danish company has to offer.

He tested the design with the help of the Integral Rehabilitation Center of Colombia (CIREC), which has long provided prostheses to land mine victims. Saying the experience was positive.
It offered a bridge for the disabled and able-bodied kids to play together. "The idea erases that line between disability and ability," he says.

He also plans to make 10-15 more prototypes which he will present in a later event in December
